glue?

Hi everyone!
When doing intarsia, what glue do you use to glue pieces together?

You can use any woodworking glue. I use Aleen's tacky glue. It grabs and holds the pieces together while it is drying and dries clear and is very strong http://www.michaels.com/Aleene%27s%C2%AE-Original-Tacky-Glue%C2%AE/gc0040,default,pd.html.

I use titebond.. I use it for all my shop projects.

I use E6000, dries clear and will hold anything.  Wal-marts etc

Which is gthe best to use putting stained pieces together?

Judy as long as the stain has cured any of the carpenters glues will work. Stain doesn't effect glue nearly as badly as paint. Again you want to make sure the stain is cured, so pretty much wait until the smell goes away..

I prefer "Aleene's Fast Grab tacky glue" for securing most, small to medium, Intarsia pieces because it sets up quicker than her original glue, in the brown bottle; therefore, i can move on to placing adjoining pieces without trying to hold sections together with tape or weights.

When putting backers on projects, or gluing large pieces that require a large amount of glue, I use Titebond II and hold in place with 25# bags of Shot until glue dries. 

Titebond II is what i happen to have on hand, because a project i worked on about six months ago required the glue be waterproof.  Any good carpenter's glue, for normal projects will work just fine.

I use Elmers White Glue. $16 a gallon here.  Dries quickly and clear.

With white glue, I think you have to hold the pieces with something during the drying time?

I glue the pieces together and to the backing at the same time and just let them sit in place.  After 10 minutes would be very hard to remove.
