I have found when using lemon oil or a turpentine base additive to a finish to raw wood that it will not let the polyurethane dry .  This is what happened to me so I washed it off with minerial spirits and let it sit for a while to make sure it was dry enough and then I applyed the satin Lacquer finish and it worked for me . Now the lemon worked great for me on the cherry name , which I let sit for a couple of days before I applyed the finish . I had to learn the hard way , now this what works for me ........MB :)
