How's this??-A 2nd look at my Daughter's Dog
« on: October 24, 2011, 01:50:43 pm »
Folks:

I had a post called "My Daughter's Dog" asking for a pattern. Over 80 people viewed it but, to no avail, no one could make me a pattern. I attempted it myself and was wondering if someone could give me their thoughts and guide me in attempting to make a better pattern.

I appreciate your time.
Thank You,
Sam

Sometimes our pattern makers take a break to enjoy other activities in there lives. I am not good with portrait patterns or I would help you. I am sure they will respond and help when they can.  :)

Well I did have a go, but as I wasn't happy with my progress with the teeth I didn't post it

However...... here is the unfinished attempt

My thoughts... you have done great (but no teeth..lol) the photo was not the best to try and convert.

SheGold, Russ C, DaveP and ALL that viewed and attempted to do this pattern:

I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I realize you can't help everyone as fast as some would like. You do this out of the kindness of your heart and the love you have in what you do. What was sent to me was an excellent guide and DaveP, thank you for comment about the teeth. That's something I didn't even think of.

My second post was done with the intent of showing you folks what I did. I am trying to learn how to make a good looking pattern. Actually, I'm beta testing a new version of a software package that helps making patterns. Like all software there is still some tweaking the user needs to do.

Again, I appreciate everyone's help.
Thank You,
Sam

My 2 cents DaveP result is better.
That's one tough dog to do. Probably would give the regular pattern makers fits too!

Folks: I have used your suggestions and ideas and started cutting. When I finish, I will send a picture. Again, I thank you for your kindness and effort.

DaveP: It's okay for me to give you the name of the software. The company "Carving Technologies" expects it to be out in a few weeks. The product is " Coyote Stencil Shop Version 3". I had Version 2 and I can tell you Version 3 is a mass improvement. It gives the abilities to make patterns, view "fall out" pieces where you may have to add or delete lines, Trace, Puzzles no matter what size your picture or pattern is and a lot more.

If I can suggest, send me a picture that you have. I will make a pattern and not do any tweaking. This way you can see how well it does things on the first pass.
