Janet, if you're referring to "Country Folks" the only stain I used is on the Man?s shirt. I used a Red water-base stain on the Padauk so the color will remain Red.
?Padauk will turn a dark Brown, in time, with exposure to light?.
I'll only use a coloring agent if a customer requests it, with two exceptions, i.e. On pieces I want to remain White I'll use a "Semi Opaque White Acrylic? watered down so the wood grain still shows through and as stated above I?ll put a wash on Padauk so it stays Red.
On all other projects where a color is requested I just use an Acrylic paint, either straight or watered down.
On projects where I?ve used white color woods I use Minwax, water based, Clear Satin, Polycrylic, spray or, Deft, Satin, Clear Wood Finish, spray to keep the white from turning yellow.
On all other projects I use Minwax, Clear Satin, Polyurethane, spray because, I think the oil-based finish brings out the colors better.
