Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone
« on: September 08, 2011, 06:49:32 pm »
Anyone for some ice cream? Well, maybe not the real thing, but how about an ice cream cone stand up puzzle. I was playing around with the idea with my pencil and paper and came up with this project. I cut mine from 3/4" pine. I was going to leave it unfinished, but then I thought it might look better with some color. I chose strawberry for the flavor, but if you cut it you can use any flavor you prefer. I used a wash of acrylic paint for the ice cream. The cone is just the natural wood dipped in mineral oil and shellacked -- sort of looks like the old fashioned waffle cone. Kids might enjoy assembling this, and they won't gain any calories. Hope you enjoy it, and I'd love to see your flavors if you care to post some pictures.

Glad everyone enjoyed this puzzle.  They will look good enough to eat when painted, but make sure you tell the young ones to hold back for a real cone.
