Hey Jimbo, The most common size I use are the 1 7/16" size, which require a 1 3/8" hole. This is the size for most mini clocks such as a lot of what Steve"s patterns require. The larger clocks will require different sizes.

Hey Jimbo:

Dan's right, the 1 7/16 minis are the most popular but you might want to add just a few 2 inch and 2 3/4 inch ones as well.  You're sure to run across some patterns that you'll want to cut that require that size.  Of course they also require different size forstner bits to cut the holes but if you're going to specialize in clocks it'll be worth the investment. Most all the vendors you order from will have the bits if you don't have em. Good luch and don't forget to post photos.

The 1 7/16" size, which require a 1 3/8" hole is the one I use the most also.  :)
