I?m new to this forum, and I would appreciate some advice on a used single speed Reliant 26" scroll saw in very good condition. The plate on the saw calls it a Model DD26, but the owner?s manual calls it an "MS-26 Scroll Saw" with no mention of Reliant. After some basic clean-up and adjustment it seems to be working well. I reduced vibration by placing two bags of cement on a shelf in the base of the stand that came with the saw. In order to speed blade changes, I modified the plate insert to allow the lower blade holder to pass through easily. The existing blade holder system seems cumbersome with these usual box shaped chuck guards. Does anybody have any experience with aftermarket blade holders for this generic saw or a similar model? Also, since it?s a single speed saw, is it possible to use an in-line power variable speed controller without damaging the motor? Thanks!
