Going to jump on the bandwagon here. Both look great.  Sometimes it's hard to look at your mistakes but nobody else sees it. (still trying to learn that trick)

Both are great.  You just cut the hat out of one so you could tell them apart ???

Looks great mrsn, if I did not know the pattern I would be none the wiser about the black hat, looks like it's just part of the pattern.

I believe you should never underestimate your work.
Sometimes we've all been there, I know it's frustrating, yet rewarding is the power to fix it.
Your effort paid off, it looks great, you should feel proud that

thanks for all the comments. I decided to put the cuttings away in different spots for a couple of days and come back with fresh eyes to see if I liked both. I checked this morning and decided that I really like the black hat. I am glad I gave it a chance, although I bet it would have made a pretty fire ;)
thanks

To burn or not to burn..... what was the question. I think it adds character,  to known that this piece it is unique makes it more valuable. Anyone can cut the pattern but not like this one. I say "KEEP it" ;D
