For Intarsia Wannabe's
« on: April 05, 2011, 02:30:19 pm »
I was going through my Desk and ran across something I wrote several years ago.

Intarsias
? 2003

Just down the road?around the bend
Lies the art of making Intarsia?s, if you have the time to spend.
Many years of pleasure is waiting for you,
Which, I?m sure in your mind is long overdue.

You?ve worked for this moment most of your life,
And now?s the time to escape your daily strife.
There is no schedule to follow, no clock to punch,
No ten-minute breaks, no half hour lunch.

This period of time will belong to you;
You?ll make the decisions about what and how to do.
And using your creativity will be a very pleasant change in your life;
It?s something you can do with or without your husband or wife.

There is unlimited number of ideas for Intarsia?s you can do
If you?ll just let your mind run free; then grab a few.
All you need is a scrollsaw, a few sanders and some elbow grease,
Soon you?ll be putting out Intarsia pieces that are sure to please.

At times when you?ve had it with sanding you can stop and go to the mall;
Or, if you like do nothing at all.
Maybe catch up on your reading, or do something else that you like,
Tend the lawn and garden; maybe take a hike.

But, then it?s back to the workshop and a lot more fun,
Making something that?s enjoyed by everyone.
The time spent making Intarsia?s will pay a big dividend,
Just down the road......around the bend.

Al, that was very good and creative, just like the pieces you have shared.
I hope to one day soon find that bend in the road and see what is around it.

Thanks for sharing :)

You're as wise as you are talented Al. This poem is very profound indeed. I'm sure that Intarsia has brought you many hours of fulfillment. Your love for this art is so obvious by the beauty you capture with each new creation. It is a true delight to see your work and realize what is possible.
