Cross question

Steve sent out a cross pattern in his email this morning.  I have never made any crosses and am wondering how well they sell at craft shows and how much you would ask for one that size.

I'm not good with prices, and would probably sell that one from $15-$20.  I'm in Southern Oregon and have made about 20 crosses in the last two years and every time I display one it sells.

Pricing really depends on where you are, and the people. I think I would price it a little higher then Bill.

My question is:  Due to the fragile nature of this clock how would it look to cut it from 3/4" hardwood?  I am thinking of purpleheart or, possibly, sapele.  Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.

I'm going to try it out of stained BB Ply because it really looks fragile.  Crosses for me are always a good seller.  I'd say $15-20 on this one as well.

 I sell a lot of crosses at craft shows, I would say anywhere  from $18-20  which I think is a good price.  Edward

I personally would not cut that one out of 3/4" purple heart.  Purple heart burns easily and that thickness would be a real b**ch.  A thinner piece with some packing tape might do it but if it burns - that one is a little too fragile to sand out the burns.

I think over the years, I've probably made anywhere from 40 to 50 crosses. Made 4 more this week, and sold 2 already. I also give a lot of them away as gifts. So yes, crosses are popular.

What size would you suggest, 1/8th or 1/4" BB for the crosses?

I prefer the 1/4"  Just a little more heft to them.
