The Fast Bull

Down in Central Texas.
At a little cross roads store where the locals hung out,
drinkin their RC Cola an spitting in the road.

Jethro was always goin' 'round bragging on his fas Bull.

When asked how fas were he?

Jethro 'd say
Wall Y'all know the  X press train runs thru muh South pasture fer bout 2 mile..
Wall, thet thar bull meets it goin' Westbound evra mawnin and races it 'crost
thet thar pasture an beats it to t'other side, then waits fer it to come back in the evnin,
and beats it goin' t'other way!

Ol' Dout'n Tom says, Jethro, tha's gotta be a bunch o' bull, t'aint no bull thet fas.

Wall Ol' Jethro just couldn't let it slide. An so he says wall if'n y'all don't blieve me come on
down some time an I'll show yuh.

With that he climbed in his old Ford truck and rattled away, as it wuz supper time.

Next mawnin while Jethro was a tell'n Hank, his hired hand, whut all he wanted done
that day, they noticed a cloud of dust comin' up the road.
Jethro just knew it was thos guys from the cross roads, lookin' to see his fas bull.

Hank says he, them ol' boys are lookin' to see my fas bull, you know there aint none,
but I caint
let them know it. I'm goin' ta hide out you've got to send them off thinkin' I aint here.
With that he ran and hid in the sprang house.

Bout five minutes later a couple of trucks roll up full of them ol' boys a lookin' fer Jethro an that fas bull.

They all lit down and found Hank throwin' slops to the hogs, and hollered, whar's
Jethro at Hank, we came to see his fas bull?

wall ol' Hank hac been studyin' on whut ta tell them ol' boys.
So he said ------

Wall boys ol' Jethro aint here today, he had tuh go and take keer o som biznezz,
he's goin over tuh Foat Wuth, then up tuh, Paympa, and on over to Amrillo, from thar, he's
heddin down tuh Brownwood, then on to Huston and should be back fer supper tomora night some time.

Ol' Tom chimed in and asked, how's goin' to get tuh all them places an back by tomora night, fly?

Ol' Hank said,
Naw su he's a riddin' that thar fas bull!!!!!!

It's been many years since I first heard this story. I just might have been down in Comanche, but maybe not. It took a while to bring it all back to mind, and I may have added or subtracted a detail or two. But it's all true!
