Hegner and Spiral Blades
« on: March 27, 2011, 01:42:23 am »
I have a Hegner 22V that I've own for 18 years.  I'm wondering if I have been using it wrong for all these years.  Found out something today while using Spiral blades. There is a screw on top of the upper clamp that holds the clamp still.  I thought this was just used when you were changing blades.  I have always screwed it down to change the blade then backed it off about 1/4 turn.   I thought this was mention in the manual which i can't find.  Anyway When using the spirals I left the screw turned so the clamp wouldn't move.  Unbelievable.  The spirals worked 100% better.  So just wondering does anyone else just leave the screw tightened against the upper clamp?  All the time.  Even with flat blades.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Charlie,   I'm going to have to try this with the Flat blades also. See what difference there is.

I keep mine screwed tight when doing fret work, regardless of type of blade.
