Blog support please?!
« on: March 02, 2011, 11:48:15 pm »
Hi gang!

I wrote a letter on my blog tonight after seeing the Supreme Court decision for "free speech" at military funerals. I got a burr under my saddle! Now I am all for free speech but I am also for doing it properly. I do not think we need regulations on it, we just need people to have common sense and care for each other. Like we do here!

If you have a problem with the gov't go to them not a funeral!

I hope you can support what I have said here and on my blog.

Thanks gang, Harold

Harold,

Read your letter.  Agree entirely!

I personally feel the Supreme Court, and most others for that matter, have missed the mark by their decision.  I firmly believe our forefathers did not intend the 1st amendment to be used to hurt others.  We have the right to an opinion, and to voice that opinion.  I don't feel we have the RIGHT to be rude, vulgar and offensive.  These protesters are simply using the funerals as a stage, which has nothing to do with their real message.  Also, doesn't their pretending to know the will of God make them sinners themselves?!  :o ???

Harold, I am in total agreement with what you've said, and with Mainwoods response as well.  I can't understand how a supposedly God-fearing group can do these things.  I wonder how any of them would feel if someone near and dear to them died and others picketed the funeral, yelling and waving signs??  They don't represent the God I know.

In reply to Mainewoods and Crabbyboater and maybe others in my blog response I used a comment from my Pastor. It can apply to any argument.

You can be sincere about anything and still be sincerely wrong.

There is their side, my side, your side. In the end God has the final say! Let's hope we agree more with Him than disagree! (my thought)

The only burning feeling I want is from having eaten something hot! :)

Well what I am about to say will probably make quite a few people angry at the least.  As a military member that is about to retire and has sworn to defend the Constitution.  I feel these people have the right to protest at funerals.  Now I know everyone is getting there shorts in a bunch right now, but if the government takes away their right to protest funerals whats next, we need to govern our selves and quit letting the government do it all for us.  At the same time these people are protesting you dont hear about the motorcycle group of veterans that run protests to keep the people away from funerals.  If you dont like these people protesting at funerals then go protest at their church in a peaceful manner.  I let my wife know that if these people were to protest at my funeral to stop the proceeding for 1min of silence and listen to the protestors and then let everyone know they are excercising their Constitutional right because of what I did for 20 years.
Oh and one more thing since they get to excercise their right of freedom of speech then if I ever see these f%^&*#rs I will excercise my right of freedom of expression and break a few skulls open and then claims PTS.
Chief out.

Hey Chief, I agree with you feelings! But anything that antagonizes them plays in to their hand.
I saw a video of bikers going right up to them to block their view. If the bikers hadn't been holding American flags I bet some of the protesters would have been peeing their pants in fright! The bikers just said ignore them , don't respond, just be quiet. How's that for self-control?! I applaud them!
