Well the rain let up a bit, and I got to use that new foot switch yesterday. Made some practice cuts and you can't guess how much being able to shut the saw off immediately when you want to relieves the stress level.
This may be one of the best ten bucks I've ever spent! I was able to work my way through a 90 degree turn without breaking the blade. By being able to start and stop without fumbling for the switch and keeping them on the work I was able to plan and execute my movements. Placing my hands where they needed to be and then just step down and continue cutting. I think this will help me learn faster. Now if the weather will just cooperate! Supposed to be some more coming in, but spring is just around the corner.
I went to the local lumber yard and dumpster dived their wood scrap, and got some stuff that looks to be oak from some crating, from 3/8" thick also approximately 1/2" and 3/4" or 1" and about 3" wide from about 12" to 3 feet long, haven't put a tape to it yet. Needless to say it was soaking wet, so I'll have to wait for it to dry before cutting. Best part is it was FREE!
I'll update once I have something to tell, I'm hopeing it won't be too long until I can put something in the brag thread.
