Just in from Minnesota!

I just got off the phone with a friend in Minnesota .
 
He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling.
The temperature is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing. 
His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window all day. 



He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

As funny as that is....it is close to the truth.

There was a 100 car pile up in West Fargo, ND yesterday because of the blizzard.  I was out 'til midnight and couldn't see past the hood of my car.  Traffic was down to 15-20 mph on the highway.  Had to stop every few miles to get the ice chipped off my windshield. 

Windchill was WAY below zero.  Had 5 layers of clothing on and still was getting close to frost bite while checking cars in the ditch. 

Can't wait to go back out tonight!  Weather reports say it will be worse than last night.....if that is possible.....

....and it was worse than last night.  I can't find the words to describe how bad the weather and road conditions were tonight.  I have never seen anything like this....I took a few pics when it was really blowing and snowing...

Almost got hit head-on 2 times while responding to calls and just missed getting rear-ended while helping someone stuck in the ditch.  Fastest I went tonight was 20 mph.  It was a 'white-out' in the city for a while tonight.  Couldn't see from one street light to the next....

Hello 2011!!!!

Have a safe Holiday everyone....now I know why I love sitting behind the scroll saw, more than sitting behind the wheel of that squad car.

GB ...Thanks for the laugh!!!!  Yep it is really crappy up here.  Hang in there SP343. I remember once I was in a storm that wasn't quite this bad but had to hit the L&S .....for no reason other than I had to pee and didn't want to drop any clothes in the snowing and blowing conditions.  You guys have it easier ;D

That is COLD!!! Yesterday here in Michigan it was 52 at 11 am, 6 pm was 31 and right now is 19 degrees.  Were getting some of your cold weather but no snow yet!! My son and son-in-law are both cops and work night shifts. Scary out there without the weather.

Reminds me of growing up in PA and that is why I live in Texas now I remember what it was like driving at night in areas like these so Be safe and Careful when checking them cars in ditchs..
