Cutting days may be numbered

Had an ultrasound Fri (no, I am not pregnant) and my aneurism has reached 4.7 cm.  Will have a CT scan next month as I am getting close to the surgery time.  The surgeon says at least a week in the hospital and 3 mos recovery.
I am debating about whether or not I want to go through all this or just let it go and take whatever happens.

I'm not thinking you will like the let nature take it's course idea.  Sounds like a rough go but it won't be as bad as you think.  Have the surgery.  The time will pass quickly.

I don't know the real risk's you're taking, but according to what I know and the other reactions I would say: "don't hesitate or delay, but go for it!"

I'm not a doctor but I would do it.  That's like a time bomb in you.  Better to miss a few months than lose years off your life.  But, again, that's just my opinion with few real facts.  You really need to discuss it with your doctor.

I don't know your details, but surgery as opposed to the alternative? I'd go surgery! As GB said rehab is better than the shoulder, I just (2008) rehabbed my left shoulder (torn labrum) 4-5 months before surgery in order to get it and then 6 months after.

Four years ago I had an Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm (AAA) repaired.  I was VERY lucky because my doctor found it during a routine physical.  I was also fortunate enough to have it fixed with a stent due to its location. 
Aneurysms, especially one your size,  are nothing to fool around with and my advice is have it fixed ASAP.  Its a time bomb waiting to explode.  Good luck and God bless.

I appreciate the feedback.  I have also considered the fact that most of my family is gone (I didn't have children), my lungs are at 60 percent, my knees are going and my vision is to the point that I can't do fine cutting anymore.  All these things considered, I'm just not sure that wasting the resources for a few more years may not be the best alternative.

Please, please get it fixed! You are lucky in a way as you have that option I have a abdomen aortic aneurism and I wish to God I had a choice for the surgery to fix it but in my case my lungs make me a poor candidate for the surgery. Vascular Doctors say no go as I would not make it thru the surgery. I live on Gods time not mine and try to make each day count. But I want a solid gold scroll saw waiting for me when I get to heaven. Lol
