Another Magnifier Option

Magni-clips.  They are like clip-on sunglasses that you just, well, clip on your regular glasses.  They come in a variety of magnification strengths - They start at 1.00.  I think I saw 4.00 but know for sure they go up to 3.00.  When you don't want them, they flip up and out of the way and then you just flip them back down when you want them again.

I bought one of the magnifier lights but it was always a battle moving it in and out of the way.  I looked at those ones that come with a headband but they just looked so bulky - and I couldn't find any locally to just try before buying.  The magni-clips are under $15 and seemed a small risk.  I'm really happy with them.

Thought I'd share it with the rest of you.  Of course, if you don't wear glasses, they won't work as they'd have nothing to clip to but, if you do, it's another option should you be looking for one.

Do a search - they're all over.  A lot of stores have them on their website including K-Mart and Target but they don't have them in the store.  You have to order online.  The cheapest I found were at overstock.com.

I bought a clip simular to what you are describing at HF that clips on the bill of a ball cap that works great.  Flip it down when sawing and up when I look away from saw.  Only a few $s don't remember the price, been using it for over 4 yrs.

I have to wear my regular glasses to just not walk into walls.  My vision is screwed up enough that I can't wear contacts either so I am stuck with glasses.  But even with my bifocals, I sometimes have trouble at the saw.

I bought some "cheaters" and tried wearing them over my regular glasses but it makes my ears hurt.  The clip-ons have been a major help to me.  I realize they aren't for everyone but I thought somebody out there might be in a similar situation.

So far, using a pair of reading glasses from walmart has been great for me. Think I paid $20.00 for a pair.
