I just read about a guy using 6 coats of floor wax on a scrollsaw table
is that overkill or not? That would cut my cutting time in half...lol

I spray something like Pledge furniture polish on a rag and wipe down my table every now and then.  The wood slides easier and I've never noticed anything on the wood, like you would if you used something like WD-40.

Bill, who wonders what was wrong with WD-39.

I give the table of my 788 a thorough cleaning with mineral spirits, alcohol and a clean dry rag.
Then a nice coat of Johnson's paste wax, let dry and polish with a folded paper 'blue shop towel' under my orbital sander.
Seems to last me for months except in the summer when I sweat a lot and my forearms and hand touch the table a lot.

I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

Never use furniture polish on any woodworking tools. They contain silicone which can interfere with some finishes!

I have been using PAM non-stick cooking spray for several months now. Easy to clean and apply. Works great. Also started using it on my other tools as well.  8)
