Also starting Friday, Nov. 5th I begin my major volunteer assignment with the City of St. Peters.
Every Friday, Saturday and Monday evening I work at the local ice rink and act as a doorkeeper and an additional pair of 'adult eyes' for the Park Rangers at high school hockey games.
2 games on Friday, 3 games on Saturday and 2 games on Monday.
Friends ask why I spend so much time there with no compensation...My reply, "Economics, it keeps me out of the taverns and lounges!"
Also I like teens and I like amateur hockey!
Except for special events that is my schedule until Feb. 1st.
This will be my FIFTH season! Have gotten to know a lot of the parents and players and they give me 'what for' when I am not at my post!

When I can I also drop ion to watch the Lindenwood University team play. They have won the NAIA national championship men's division three years straight and the women have won the last 2 years!

Gotta keep busy to keep the "Reaper" away from my door!

David...
I still ice skate when I can. I started out as a speed skater at the age of 8 and have been skating ever since!
Thanks to working at our Rec-Plex I can pretty much drop in and skate when I want if the ice is not being used.
At our complex we have THREE ice rinks and one of them is usually empty.
The two hockey rinks are in use from 5:00 a.m. until after midnight almost every day of the year!
I ride my bike, walk, do a little fly fishing, etc.
Played and officiated softball, basketball, soccer, hockey. All on the local amateur level. Was a catcher in baseball for many years (younger times).
Enjoy almost all sports as a spectator now. Especially local and amateur divisions. I enjoy a high school basketball game much more than watching the NBA!
Some things like synchronized swimming and diving and the fancy figure skating I definitely class as "exhibitions" and not sports! My take is if you have to rely on some judge or group of judges to get a score then it is not definitive and no longer a sport.

Thanks GB I thought you would be into some sport yourself. I swim once a week, cycle a lot and am now training at physio to get the strenght and condition to hopefully go to Scotland in 2 or 3 years time and do part of the Highland walk, before my illness I hiked in Scotland a couple of times and fell absolutely in love with the place. So when my physio asked me yesterday what goal I would like to work towards I said that I would love to be able to hike again.
Never skated though, the ice always seemed to get the beter of me. Good to keep fit.
Am off to bed now it's long passed me bedtime (23.40).
