"thinboards.com"?
« on: October 05, 2010, 05:50:47 pm »
Has anybody tried them yet?

Was over on another forum last night and they are heavily involved with Travis and his group.

Cut some of the Oak P/W I got from Ocooch this afternoon! Must have got a BAD piece! Ran into several areas of VOIDS!
Scraped up some sawdust, mixed with a little glue and filled those suckers up.

Hey GB, I thought I saw you over there! I have not tried them but they seem to get some good reviews. They are also embroiled in some controversy in that they want to start selling scroll saw kits using plans without permission from the plan designers.
Also they are touting their business on the forum, and some members don't like that.

Yeah, Dan...I picked up on those issues last night. I started out on Travis' group when I first got into scrolling and then I went 'dormant' and found Steve's Blog and eventually this Forum.

That forum seems to be more 'promotional' than helpful.

I also noticed that all the patterns that 'grandpa' posts here he also posts over there which is fine with me.

I have ordered from them and the wood I got was good. The only problem is the time it takes. You email them an order, then they bill you for the order, then a few days later for the shipping. They bill the actual shipping, not an estimate,  so it does seem to save some money that way. It does take a while though. My first order took 15 days to get to me from order to recieving, (and they ship from a town 60 miles away from me). I placed a second order on 9/29, got the invoice on 10/1 and paid it that day, still have not heard what the shipping will be. The prices are very good, the shipping cost is good, but don't be in a hurry.

Marcellarius,
I have seen that picture before and It always make me laugh.
I have often wondered if the guy made it to where he was going.
If that load slips off, he will have to build his project where ever he is.  :D :D :D :D :D :D

Having worked at the Home Depot - you would be amazed how people want you to load their stuff.  Many guys have left with plywood on top of the car and a guy at each window holding it with their hands.

That is why we have a rack on top and I carry 'braided dacron rope' which doesn't STRETCH!

Tried the holding thing once with a mattress for just a few blocks and it was a B*&^%! Almost lost it twice!

Funny picture, but obviously faked.  That load would have already been on the ground!

A. The back tires would have likely BLOWN!

B. There is no way he could steer the vehicle with all that weight on the rear.

C. The smallest BUMP would cause the load to shift and slide off the back.
