That is either a glue-up from hell or, plywood. I can't imagine gluing up all thise strips but, I'm sure that it can be done.
Anyway that is some fine cutting and a beautiful bowl. You are really thinking outside the lines!!

Rog  the blank was made using 3/4 finish birch ply.   These were scraps from another blank that I made but have not made a bowl from yet.  I could not see throwing out something that might produce something unique :)

I am going to have to get over hating to glue up blanks.  The results are too spectacular to not give it a go.

I thought it might be plywood.
Here is one I made quite some time ago.




In fact, I have made several things including a pitcher and vase and most recently a mug out of ply but yours looks ALOT better.
I'll try it your way the next time.
