Let me know if I can help
« on: September 25, 2010, 12:31:14 pm »
I've got about 60 scroll saw magazines with about 1000 patterns, so I recently made a spread sheet that lists the names of the patterns and a key word, so I can locate a pattern easier.  If someone's looking for a pattern in a mag, let me know and I might be able to save you a little time.

I rarely have the time to look on the site (or post, which is why I'm still a Newbie) so you may want to send me an email.

Take care,

Bill

Thanks Bill,

It's nice to know we have someone to turn to.

I know cataloging something like this takes many hours, I've did it for other things.

Bill,

That's a great idea and exactly what I want to do.  I want to add a photo as well.

My questions for you are these:

Which magazines and years did you do?
What software did you use?

Thanks

Karl

Hi,

I just used Excel because I work with it all the time at my day job, and it's easy to use the search feature.  I've been subscribing to Creative Woodworks and Scroll Saw for almost 3 years now, and I've also got some old back issues when I purchased one of those "grab bag" specials I saw advertised once.

It took a total of about 15 hours to input everything.  I didn't do pictures.  That thought's too overwhelming.   :)

Wow, thanks for the offer Bill.  I have several years of those same magazines.  I just went through them looking for a couple of patterns I remembered seeing and wanting to cut.  Time consuming.

Bill:
I would like to take you up on your offer. A friend sent me the attached ".jpg". He said he saw it on Etsy.com under Scroll Saw. I looked and couldn't find it but I was wondering if the pattern is in your spread sheet list.

Thanks for the offer and trouble we will put you through.

Sam,

I looked up both squirrel and chipmunk and, even though I did find one of each, neither was the one pictured.  The squirrel was in intarsia project, the other was a chipmunk in the April 2010 issue of Creative Woodworks and Crafts.  It's pretty cute.  Is in un-manly to say a chipmunk is cute?

Bill: Thanks for the reply and sorry for putting you through some work.

I recently purchased Coyote Stencil Shop. I am having a lot of problems learning it but converting the squirrel might be a good project and help me learn how to use the software.

Bill - No it's not unmanly to say a chipmunk is cute.  It is, however, unmanly to question manliness.  We'll let it slide this time though.   ;) :P :D

Janet, my wife wants to give you a high-five.  Okay, I'm going back to making sawdust.
