Bummer!
« on: August 11, 2010, 03:21:16 am »
Started my day with a blade that kept slipping out of the bottom clamp. Me was not happy. I took the screw/bolt out and the thread is badly worn,so it won't fasten the clamp. And guess what I have all sizes screws etc accept this size, so will have to wait till tomorrow to go and search for one, need to help a friend preparing to move house later on. At least I can still saw stuff with pinhead blades.

Is this your personal saw and not one of the news ones at the center?  ???

If it were me, and I had to wait on a new screw, I would go ahead and order the screw and then sandpaper to rough up the old one.  I have done this several times and it works until I get the part in that is needed.  Just my thoughts.

David...is it the 'end' of the screw that holds the blade or the THREADS?

If the end, Cherie's comment would be valid!

Russ it's my personal one, had it for about 2 and a half years now. Just checked the thread in the clamp is also warn. Found thet the screw that keeps the clamp mounted is the same size as the one that tightens the clamp to hold the blades. Tried it, but it slips inside the clamp, so need to order a new one tomorrow and then it will hopefully behere on saturday. I really want it like yesterday :P, as I just got my shipment of spiral blades today, so need to be patient before I can try them out.

OK,  that is a bummer. I understand you want it now. Well it gave you 2 and half years of service. Not too bad, have a couple of beers and chill my friend. I know when one of my tools breaks I won't it fixed now. Unfortunately that is Life. Or let's get some of that German pear wine that yyyyyguy has we,... won't care about anything. LOL

Hi Russ, I have to finish off some stuff so guess I'll be doing that while I wait for the clamp to arrive. I'll skip the beer thanks, will stick to my ice-tea, but you can have a couple on me. But at least I can still use the pinned blades as is , so I can make some puzzles or something else without fine fretwork.

Have a nice day.
