I use EasyPeel Clear plastic laminate that is used by many for covering shelves. It comes in several widths-12 inch & 16 inch I believe. It can be cut to the size you need, then peel & stick. Use spray adhesive to attach the pattern to it. After sawing it peels off easily leaving no residue.
