Is there any way of making Steve's patterns darker when I print them off? They're always so light (yes I have ink, yes I try greyscale, etc.). Thank you.

I use Inkscape to change the colors, darken lines, etc.

Thanks Larry. I was hoping to avoid Inkscape but guess not. Cheers.

What kind of printer do you have.
I have a Lemark laser and it has an "ECO" setting and also a setting for changing the gray scale or save toner. I sometimes get them set and forget to take off and so it comes out real light. Some of the setting are on the print menu but get over ridden by the printer. I now have the printer set to not be in ECO mode and let me decide when I print.
Also my printer has a setting for printing in back and white or colour. I usually select black and white.
