Home Made Tool

Here are some pics of a mill I built so I could saw up some of my own lumber. Mostly from free stuff I acquired from different sources. The lumber for the frame and tracks was from shipping containers for machines that my employer was throwing away. A 18hp Briggs and Stratton  from a neighbors riding mower with a bad tranny. Bar and chain oil reservoir is an old propane tank. Using an ATV winch to raise and lower the blade. It has been a fun project and does a respectable job. It can cut logs up to 24" diameter, the big problem is that I have no heavy equipment to move them so I'll stick to the smaller and shorter logs.

I have always wanted a small saw mill.  I have looked at several including several that would be Build Your Own.  Great job on that glad you can do that.  I do not have the room to store the cut lumber for several years while it seasons.  Thanks for sharing this with us.
