Hi all
found a DW788 -Xe 20  (240 volt "our voltage " ) for sale here in aust  for approx $370 usd
says type one on decal stuck on motor

is that how u tell a series 1 ?,
does that seem like a reasonable price?

well now proud owner of a dw788 type 1 ,only  one I have ever see or found in Australia
up to now have been making things using a hand  fretsaw with FD blades.

Congrats on your purchase.  That would be a type 1.  Not sure about the price.  Would be a little high here but enjoy your new toy.

The only real differnce between a type I and a type II is where it was manufactured.  There are a couple of minor changes but essentially they are the same.  You might wish to bookmark this link - http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dewalt-dw788-type-scroll-saw-parts-c-1009_2631_2632.html This is the parts break down for a type I
