Finish on a clock

Was wondering how most people put finish on a clock. Do you finish parts first, then assemble or assemble then finish? If you finish after assembly, how do you do it? Thanks for any help.

I usually assemble the wood parts first, use a spray finish of your choice, then assemble the rest of the clock.

I can't remember the last time I pre-finished a piece before assembly. I'm not a big user of stain. Generally I use a boiled linseed oil coat and then the clear coat, ie., spray, brush on, or wipe on.

I guess it depends on the clock but if its a insert type clock you should have no problem installing after applying the finish, just give the finish time to cure.
