Pen Stands
« on: November 07, 2014, 12:18:45 pm »
Here are four pen stands I've made in the past few weeks.

This is a pattern from Steve Good.  It is found here:

http://stevedgo.ipower.com/cat/?page_id=1568

From left to right:

Mahogany with Hickory base
Walnut with Yellow heart base
Mahogany with Oak base
Cherry with Yellow heart base

Pen on left I turned (My first and only so far)
Pen on right from a friend who is 100 and still up and turning pens!

Those are really nice and nice pens also.  I was into the pen making for quite a while, but the hardware is doubled and some cased tripled what I paid when I started so I moved on.  You made a nice on epically for a first pen.  Now you are in trouble because it is very additive.  I still make a pen or two for special people on special occasions.

Love your pen stands..

Thank You for showing these Karl,  great pieces of work.  God Bless your friend for being able and willing to make pens or whatever else he does in the shop at his age.

Since you have mentioned it Al I will tell you that God has richly blessed this man's life.  He is a former pastor and still has gotten up and preached in our Bible study at church at his 100th birthday.  The pens he turns he gives away and the ones he gets paid for - the money goes to missions.  He is a Godly man who always greets you with a smile and a hand shake.

We look forward to his 101st birthday in January and one of those pen stands will be his soon.

They all look great Karl.  Did you make them to sell or to display the pens?
