Downloading patterns

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum but so far I'm getting a lot of useful tips. Now I have a question. I tried downloading a few of the patterns that scroller's put on but when I go to print them out, there enormous. I usually try to fit most of my portraits in an 8x10 frame but these are way bigger.  For example, I tried to print out a pattern for the three stooges that someone had on but when I printed it, the two stooges on either end were cut in half and the portrait was very big. I'm printing on regular 8.5x11 printer paper. Am I doing something wrong. Thanks, Ralph

When you click print and the print dialog pops up, check the box marked fit to page. Sometimes it's called scale to fit depending on which version of Windows you use.

Thanks Ray. I tried that but i;m still loosing some of the pattern when I select 8x10;

I may be wrong but in your printer settings if you are printing on 8.5x11 paper "letter" size should be selected.
Down here at the bottom of the world we use 8x10=A4 size.

Hi, Ralph,
If you get a free graphics editing program like Gimp, Inkscape, or, I think there is a free version
of Photoshop, you can save the pattern and then open it in your editing program to size it to fit your needs.
A pattern with three individuals like a Three Stooges pattern would probably be pretty hard to cut
at 8" x 10" but, I have not looked at that pattern to see how complex it is.
Also, you can always use PRINT PREVIEW in WordPad to see how the pattern is going to print before
printing it. You can resize the pattern in Word Pad by using a straight edge and carefully pulling one corner straight along the straight edge until it fits the page the way you want. Not exactly a perfect solution but, if done carefully you shouldn't distort the pattern.
