Book Marks

Being kinda a dummy in this craft yet I wondered if anyone could direct me to some book mark patterns for the scroll saw ? I have a couple of Steve's patterns but was looking for more, I was going to donate them to the Church Craft Sale that they every year to raise money for
the youth groups and other needs.

You can put any small pattern on a bookmark, but I like to use some theme type patterns. If it's a church sale, you can use designs that are common to the church (cross, dove, etc.) Also look for patterns related to easy to identify animals (bunny, giraffe, elephant, dinosaur). Last Christmas I made some using 1/32" BB ply. You can cut a stack of 10 without much trouble.

Thank You for your reply. I never thought of making my own. I carve signs and do relief carving and am just get acclimated in the scrolling word. I tried to attach one of my finished signs but couldn't figure out how to get it here from photobucket. The link won't copy and paste'

To paste a link to a photo - there is a button above with a tiny icon of the Mona Lisa (left most button on the 2nd line of buttons, below the B for Bold). If you click it first, it will write some HTML to enclose a link to an image like {img}{/img} but with square brackets. Go to photobucket, right click on your image, and select "copy image url" then paste it betwn those img /img markers. You should be able to see the image if you hit the Preview button at the bottom of the Posting page. Here's a sample image from photobucket:

This is a set of word ornaments I designed. They would probably work well for bookmarks as well.

I like your relief carvings. The rough edge gives them a unique and hand-made look.

My Thanks to all of you ! Like I said in my early posts I did some sawing 15 years ago but coming back to it I realize what a newbie I am.
I have a little experience and a lousy saw, but I want to learn fretwork. You folks make a guy feel welcome and I appreciate it...Craig

Experience comes with practice.  As far as the saw, I have seen the most amazing work come off the worst saws.  I started on an old Dremel.  Love my EX21 but if I had no choice - I would scroll on a crappy saw before I gave up scrolling.
