I have heard that a solution of vinegar and salt will turn nails rusty and old looking; does this work? If so does any one have any experience using this method? Any suggestion as to what the best ration of salt and vinegar?

I have not used any of these processes but,
here is a link to a lot of videos on the subject.

At first, I thought you wanted to CLEAN UP rusty nails and was going to suggest using "EVAPO-RUST".
Then I realized that you must have newer nails and are looking to MAKE them look old. In that case, I would just soak them in salt water for a day or so and then toss them into an old tin can to dry out for a few days. Yes it will take some time (maybe a week) but, believe me they WILL get rusty!
Are they the old style "cut" nails?

Thank you guys, have plenty of nails to try all three, salt water, Pepsi and the vinegar.salt mix. The nails are what I think are called tacks and they are dark blue or black color.
Thank You,
Pieter
