Eyeglass Holder with bowl
« on: May 29, 2014, 06:49:40 pm »
This is a slightly different take on the classic nose type eyeglass holders.  I have added a small dish / bowl beside the nose to hold things like change, earrings, misc. things that you might not want to have on when not wearing your glasses.
Made from scrap pine, sealed with Tung Oil and then shellacked.

Excellent idea. I usually pile up my glasses and cell phone (it's my alarm clock) on the night stand so that might be another mod worth a look.

Thanks for the great idea and I must say, showing us your "wonderful work"!!  I just pile all my stuff on the chest of drawers with no organization at all.  Would be nice to have something like this.  Thanks for sharing with us. Al

They look good together DW.  It must be a man thing, my husband throws everything in a pile , where I have a place for everything.  ;)

Nice job.
I have made the eyeglass holders in the past and everyone thought they were cool but, the addition of the little bowl makes yours extra COOL!

I have just recently made what I call "Men,s Valets". You know, a place on the night table to put wallets, keys, change etc at bed time. (Basically a "Junk Tray"  ;D )
I did not use a scroll saw, I just used the table saw and made them out of a cherry board that my brother gave me but, this might be an inspiration for others to make something similar using a scroll saw and incorporating some fancier cutting and decoration and even include the eyeglass holder like you did.
These measure about 6" x 11" x 2" high to give an idea of size to start with. The board had in inclusion on one edge and I re-sawed the 1" thick board down to 3/8" thick because I wanted to show the "live edge" on the trays.
Keep the new ideas coming!!!  ;)  :)
