First attempt portrait pattern

Finally cut my first portrait . Due to the problems with the first cut (veneer lifting) I decided to cut a blank from the same sheet but this time I covered the face with some white oak veneer that I had lying about in the workshop. Allowing for shrinkage I left blank overnight and began cutting this morning. The only difference from the first attempt is that I did not go overboard with the hair detail (close cuts)

Very pleased with the outcome as was my granddaughter. Just have to do 2 more now for the others!

Very nicely done Dave!!! And thanks for providing your process above, EIEIO. I was using strictly GIMP for portraits. Will have to check out the GIMP/Inkscape tandem you use.
