New Table design for my Scroll Saw
« on: November 16, 2013, 11:53:25 pm »
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share with you my new table I made for my scroll saw. All comments are welcome.
Our  young scroll saw artist might not appreciate this type table as much as  shall I say some of us seasoned artists. ::)

I have been wanting to do this for a while, so the other day after I pried my butt off the stool, and took another few moments to straighten up, I decided now is the time.  I got to work and made this table so I could  sit down, while sawing and be comfortable. I have always stood up or sat on a stool. Neither one was really comfortable after 1/2  hr. So I put on my thinking cap and came up with this. I must say I am very happy with it. Sawed for almost 2 hrs straight and felt very relaxed. The only problem was not to fall asleep. (Ha  Ha)

So while I was at it, I added a new air pump to the saw,(tired of replacing bellows) a zero clearance plate, foot pedal,(installed on leg of stand, I will explain) new switch for air pump, and a 6 gang electric box installed on rear leg. Plus re-routed all electric wires for saw. (Now for the foot pedal explanation!)

The reason for the foot pedal install on the leg of the stand and not on the floor is for no better reason than Sadie.  Sadie is my shop foreman. She is a 110 lb yellow Lab.  Anything on the floor in HER SHOP is fair game. Need I say more.!!  So on the leg it went.  I just tap it with my leg and away we go... ;) Now I am a happy camper, and for Sadie , well after she gave it a good sniff  she was off planning her next surprise attack on the UPS man.  She just loves  terrorizing that man :-\

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

Have a blessed day.

Wonderful project!  That is something that is really going to add to your pleasure of scrolling. I am sure it will inspire many others as well. As for Sadie - I am sure she will find other ways to "help"!  ;)

Thanks for sharing!  Sheila

Looks like a very nice idea.  I like the idea of a side mounted foot switch and may have to see if I can come up with an idea for my saw.

Thanks for letting us see the new workstation - enjoy and scratch Sadie's ear for me.

I love it! Now, you do not have to get up to go take a nap; just lean back in your easy chair and get in a few winks, and get rested to make some more dust!

Very nifty set-up!!  8)
On wheels to make it easy to move around to a different spot or floor clean-up.  :)
I trust that you have a blade holder handy, or in the plans, and maybe a coffee cup holder within arms reach too.  ;)   I would mount the radio under the front arm and enclose it as much as possible to keep the dust out of it.  ;D
If you are going to go, go all out!  :o
