Looking at new router for my modest router table needs...I like this due to the many good reviews and the fact that it will accept collets for both 1/4" & 1/2" bits.

What say my woodworking friends?

I never really wanted to grow up....All I wanted was to be able to reach the cookie jar...and play with my DW 788

I have a porter-Cable router in my table. It was a used one that I bought at a auction about seven years ago and still going strong.
I also have two other PC's that are older and a Hitachi with a plunge base and a Bosch Colt trim router that I use a lot.
I can't really bad mouth any of them but, I think that I could still use one or two more routers as I have a lot of different router bits without a home.  ;)

GB

I have two of this model router. I got the first one as a kit with both the fixed base and the plunge base. I then also bought the D-handle base. I "permanently" mounted the fixed base in the router table and moved the motor between the table and the D-handle. After several years I walked into a deal on another one at a price I couldn't refuse.

I have found them to be strong dependable performers. Two things would make them more user friendly. First, eliminate the need to use two wrenches for tightening the collect; second, equip them with a soft-start capability.

Good luck,

I have several routers GB but that is the model I dedicated to my table and it has never let me down.  I have used it with large bits (raised panel doors) as well as for pattern and inlay.  It's a good one!

I purchased this same router about eight years ago and use it all the time. It works great and has plenty of power even with ?" bits.  8)
