I used GIMP to make this pattern from a picture.

nicely done.

Here's your picture run through Inkscape to make a trace. Brightness cutoff was set to 0.9 for this trace (pretty dark - usually 0.6 will pick up enough detail).

Maybe I should give Inkscape a try.  I'd been putting it off because I dreaded trying to learn yet another program...first MSPaint then GIMP.  My Cagney pattern had too much detail and I had to mess with it once I had it traced onto the wood.  Thanks for cleaning it up for me.  Came out great!

Hi Annie,

I know it is kind of late  response :)! I fine tuned a bit removed floaters and I hope you will use it sometime in the future. This is no rocket science, it just matter of trial and error and like Don Rob's advice "Practice, practice and some more practice. You have been making wonderful patterns and try incorporating Inkscape  in the cleaning up process,kindly download and start playing with it :)
