Red tail hawk
« on: May 23, 2013, 04:15:38 pm »
This is a red tail hawk I did out of the creative woodworks magazine. I loved the bird and wanted to do it once I seen it. Not sure where he is going yet. The wife really likes him. Many woods used on this bird to give it all the colors. The tail originally called for Purple Heart but it?s a red tail hawk. Why would I use Purple Heart? So I used African Padauk after I did some research and found it is more orange then red. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.

Very nice job, I think Padauk was the right choice for the tail, it looks good.

My watercolor instructor says that if you want people to stop and look at a painting, add something RED.

That is absolutely beautiful. Love the different woods that you used.
