The sword almost made it into the stone

This is my Tai Chi practice sword. It is cut from a maple sapling that had grown around another fallen tree. It has a 36" blade with an 8" handle. The blade and hand guard were cut on my EX-21 then sanded and waxed. The end of the handle is where the tree entered the root at ground level. It looks a little like an antler.

Yet another use for the scroll saw. Excalibur!

Liked the story and Great job on the construction of a sword  Is Tai Chi another

Tai Chi is that real slow martial arts stuff you see us geezers doing in the park. My group follows the William C. C. Chen method.We're just starting to look at the sword form. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBhI5YWC9yA

Usually the practice sword is a lightweight wooden piece about 36"-40" long. This one is made from a maple sapling from our woods that was having a hard time, and was very crooked. The blade follows the center line of the sapling.

nice video and a great sword.
I saw the curves in the sword and thought how could you use that.
and the I saw the video. all going real "slow" and controlled.
can imagine this will work great with your own made sword.
thanks for sharing, I learned again today ;)
