I actually made a decent looking pattern!

Here is Matt Dillon (James Arness) from Gunsmoke. The edges on the pattern are jagged. I don't know how to make them smooth using the Coyote Stencil program or if you even can. I tried using Inkscape to make it and well let's just say it didn't turn out to good.

that's excellent, especially for a first try.(you didn't see the mess I made trying to make a pattern from a picture) I still haven't mastered the process yet!!!
It's all a case of "Mind over Matter",  The Government don't Mind, and I don't Matter.

That looks great Dustin. I ran it through Inkscape with the Trace Bitmap set to 0.50.

Dustin - Do you realize that after you do the Trace Bitmap in Inkscape that the Trace and the Original are overlaid? If you click & release on the picture, then hold the mouse button down and drag, the Trace will move and the original stay where it was. That way you can try different settings to see what looks best (keep dragging the trace away from the original.

When you get a trace you like, drag the original out of the outline box, drag the best trace into the outline box, and save as an SVG. Load the SVG into Gimp to clean up speckles etc. then save as a GIF, JPG, or PNG file.

Thank you Ray. I will have to download Gimp and try some more patterns with Inkscape and Gimp.
