WARPED HICKORY?
« on: March 28, 2013, 11:01:25 am »
Would like to know how to correct a top made out of hickory wood that has warped, before I am able to put a finish on the wood? Thanks for your help.

In the new issue (#51) of scrollsaw woodworking there is an article about a Tropic Fish Box (page 72). In the sidebar on page 75 the editor explains that the box was made on the Gulf Coast then sent to the magazine offices in Pennsylvania. While waiting for the photo shoot, the change in humidity caused the top to warp a lot. They say they applied steam and pressure to flatten it out, then kept weight on it to prevent a new warp before shooting.
