How to easily align your blade to the table.(Video)
« on: February 05, 2013, 10:22:46 pm »
I had a discussion with a friend today about easy ways to align your scroll saw blade to the table. Surprisingly, It was a lot more difficult to explain than I thought it would be, so I figured I'd just make a quick video and show the process instead. This process is nothing new, but I'm sure there are a few out there that might not know how to do it this way so I wanted to show you as well, just in case!

Here's the link.

Hey Newfie,

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, after all it is a perfect 90 degree angle, I just hadn't thought of it! Thanks for the idea.

Just a thought!

Could you also draw a square line to the true edge instead of making all of those cuts?
I have a little depth guage for my table saw which has square edges.
Just a thought!

Thanks for the video, I already use that method as I find it more accurate than a square, if you cut a 1/4" deep line in the block of wood the blade has to fit in the slot when it's reversed. If it doesnt fit it's not 90 deg to the table. I did it with an engineers square and I thought it was perfect, but after double checking with the wood method I found I was about 1 1/2 deg out.
It's all a case of "Mind over Matter",  The Government don't Mind, and I don't Matter.

Thank you Bob for the video link. I must admit, you taught me something very useful today. I had been looking for a mini square to line up my blade, but I believe your method is more practical, easier and more cost efficient. Thank again.

thanks for the video. I usually take a small square to check, but making one for each # of blade is a good idea.

Thanks for the video and tip.I never thought about doing that.I have always used a small sq. and still had trouble with cutting puzzles to fit right.I am going to try this today.
