manual for a DeWalt 788 wanted!
« on: December 22, 2012, 11:04:43 pm »
Hi,
My scroll saw has developed a knocking when you increase speed to over #4. I found a fix-it on the net but it refers to the manual and part numbers. I purchased my saw second hand and it didn't have a manual with it. Can anyone help me with this?
cheers Michael

Michael. . .

If you haven't already,    You might check out their web site and  see  if they  carry  the manuals online.

Thanks guys,
I tried dewaltservicenet.com but that was a disaster, they are rebuilding the site i think (nothing worked).
I am in Australia and dewalt here reckon they never imported any scroll saws but mine is a Type 1 made in Canada and is marked 788XE which I have found out was the imported model into Australia. Have little chance of finding one here!
Perhaps I should be asking if anyone has had this problem and found an easy-fix for it? That a complete novice could master!
cheers Michael

Try also reading Rick Hutcheson's site about tune ups and repairs.  :)

The manual that comes with the DeWalt saw, weather it's a type I or a type II is useless! All it does is show you how to set it up. As was suggested, go to Ricks site for a fix on your problem.

I have the diagram mentioned in digital format, willing to forward if you provide email address.

Found your address and sent the diagram.

Thank you everyone, you have been wonderful and very, very helpful!
I got an easy fix from Rick's site (I am sure I can follow the instructions) Al emailed me a copy of the parts diagram that others had directed me to. After Christmas I will correct the problem and let you know how I go.
Thanks again and have a very happy and Blessed Christmass everyone.
Michael
