And to whom do YOU make donations?
« on: December 20, 2012, 06:36:40 pm »

KNOW WHO YOU ARE GIVING TO!

As you open your pocketbooks.........

The American Red Cross President and CEO Marsha J. Evans' salary for the year was $951,957 plus expenses.

The United Way President Brian Gallagher receives a $675,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits.

UNICEF CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,900,000 per year (158K) per month, plus all expenses including a ROLLS ROYCE. Less than 5 cents (4.4 cents) per donated dollar goes to the cause.

HOWEVER?

The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization. 96 percent of donated dollars go to the cause.

The American Legion National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

? The Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

? The Disabled American Veterans National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

? The Military Order of Purple Hearts National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

? The Vietnam Veterans Association National Commander receives a $0.00 zero salary. Your donations go to help Veterans and their families and youth!

I agree, I never give to the first 3 for that very reason.   I like St. Vincent DePaul (local store) and Eve Burrell Animal Shelter ( a no kill shelter).

GB I agree with Everything you said 100%.  About the Red Cross....  Back yonder
I believed in giving Blood as often as I could.  In fact I was up over 2 gallons.
Then I read and investigated the CEO think was Ann something and found out her
yearly salary.  That woke me up and I have not given blood since.  Same goes for
United Way....  There is absolute NO reason for that high of a salary.  Danny  :+}

I wrote off the Red Cross years ago.  When I was in the service, one of our young sailors had a family emergency and needed help getting home.  The Red Cross was contacted and helped him with expenses.  When he returned, he was billed for the expenses.

That is the reason I do not donate to them. We donate to local charities.  :)

I had  a similar experience. One of our Airmen lost his mother and went home for the funeral. Two months later his father passed. The commander gave him and emergency leave but the Red Cross would not even LOAN him money to go home again. We took up a collection and sent him on his way. It was very hard to get donations to the Red Cross from our group after that.

Returned from my first tour over there via boat, for some reason, and the Red Cross was selling coffee and donuts on the Dock.  They have never and will  never get a penny from me...:(:(
