Pin Cushion
« on: November 27, 2012, 12:59:20 am »
I am a guinea pig doing a heart research program and so yesterday I had to have a fasting blood test.  Next week I have an appointment with my Diabetic specialist so had to go for a fasting blood test today.  My arms are like pin cushions  :'( glad I don't have to do it every week.

Hello Marg, between squirrels and guinea pigs are you collecting animals??????. Sorry to hear you've got diabetes, can't be very pleasant for you. With me having Angina I get my arm emptied every month or so, which I could very well do without. But that's life aint it. The thing I hate most is the treadmill test. I get an angina attack just thinking about it. You take good care of yourself and please don't lose your sense of humour. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*.

They can do it without the treadmill Rob.  I can't run due to a knee injury from a motorcycle wreck, but I have to have the same tests due to diabetes and stents in my chest.  They have you swallow liquid with an isotope and then track it for any blockages all without the treadmill.  If it is a stressor for you, you might ask.

Hi Bill, I was scheduled for a stent until they discovered, via an angiogram, that I had two blockages and one partial and they used the dye on that test. So I am now on a list for a triple by pass, so we shall see what transpires, very soon, I hope. Gabby tells me not to stand too near a stove because of the G T N spray LOL.
Thanks for that information Bill.

Good luck and all the best with your diabetes. My wife is an insulin dependent diabetic survivor for 54 years now. Diagnosed when she was 3 years old. Her advise to others is "Control your diabetes don't let it control you"!

I have been a diabetic for a little over 18 years I am also on insulin, I just hate going to the vampires and I hate fasting even more.  I manage to control it most of the time it just holiday times I seem to have a problem.  LOL  Thanks for all the lovely messages I appreciate all your concerns.  (((HUGS))) back at you.
