Yet again I had to take my machine back to the shop, it was vibrating again and had a "clicking" sound coming from the linkage at the motor end. I got it to Axminster Power Tools and they were looking at it within minutes of me getting there. They spotted the problem within seconds, there is a small link attatched to the motor shaft with an eccentric bearing in one end. That bearing had come out of the link about an 1/8th inch, this meant the link was no longer straight but sitting at an angle, this in turn meant the side of the link was wearing away where it was touching another rod and the needle roller bearing at other end of the link was running out of line, damaging the needle roller bearing. It took about 15 mins to replace the link rod after first removing the new bearing then refitting it with locktite to stop it coming out again. While I was there they also stripped the top arm and replaced the adjuster mechanism in that linkage with a new type as there had been probs with the old type breaking. Then they set up and adjusted the machine and tested it. All ok and running smooth again. Once again Axminster Power Tools have proved their back up service is second to none.
It's all a case of "Mind over Matter",  The Government don't Mind, and I don't Matter.

Glad to hear that they took good care of you Keefie! It takes a bit of the sting out of having problems with something when you are treated decently and they help you out.  Thank you for sharing your story with us. I often am asked to recommend a Excalibur dealer in GB and it is good to hear that Axminster stands behind their products.  I hope from here on it's "Smooth Sailing!" :D

Hi Keefie, I wouldn't expect anything else from Axminster. Bought quite a lot off them and had no problems whatsoever. A few more dealers should take a leaf out of their book!!!!!

Took my DeWalt to a dealer last year to adjust the tension, they had it for 3 weeks and every time I rang they  gave me a different story in the end I got angry and told them to get it ready my husband was picking it up in half an hour.  They rang to make sure I had not sent my lead with it, well after I blasted the guy and told him to find my lead my husband rang and said that he had everything, they had actually given me a longer lead which was a bonus.  Anyway my husband drove past yesterday and there was a sign on their window."CLOSING DOWN SALE"  Obviously their bad customer service was the death of them. can't say I'm surprised.  My husband and his friend fixed my tension for me so no problems there now.  Just wish we had a Axminster here, good customer service is hard to come by nowadays.

Hey Billy, Ray @ Seyco may not be close to you (He's in Rockwall Texas) but I guarantee if you need something - he will get it out to you and talk you through the repair if you don't want to ship it in.  My EX was bought from him hears ago - it was a reconditioned model.  I used it daily for years and the only two problems I ever had with it were fixed immediately.  He's great to do business with.  If you ever want to get one - he's the one to buy from.
