I've only Just been alive for 40 years hehe...  Just taking up the hobby - moving over from the lathe.... 

Ideas are one thing, but getting the wood, patterns and books over here is so extortionately expensive

Used to make a shedload of pens, but with the recent price hikes it is becoming a pain to procure decent kits....

Hi Ken, Life begins at 40 or, so they say, so you should be enjoying life to the full. I'm 67, I'm still enjoying life, but doing it a lot slower LOL. You're right about getting a hold of good quality timber at reasonable prices. Up here on the west coast of Scotland the delivery charges can be a bit over the top, and I would assume it's  the same in Wales?. We always manage some thing though. Necessity being the mother of invention !!!.

I have just scored a 122x90x2cm chunk o MDF for nowt off freecycle   Will do for something surely hehehe
