broken bit

How do you deal with it while drilling entry holes the fine bit breaks off and stays in the hole?
I am drilling/sawing 3/4 maple using 1/16th bit.

Leave it there and drill another hole. It is in the waste area anyway.

Ok Judy you just jinxed me.   I was out drilling holes thinking about your post and ... yup .... I just broke the bit !!!!   It happens to be in an area that is going to be waste so will just drill another hole and cut around it and the broken bit and scrape will hit the waste can together.  
I broke one once when doing a bowl ... straight line and bevel cut ... I drilled another hole as close to the broken bit as I could and when I came to the end of the cut just kept edging into the broken bit until I could separate the rings .. had some sanding to do but turned out ok.  
Now I'm going to go back to doing what I was doing and not reading any posts until I am finished       Marion

usually I drill another hole and ignore the broken piece.
I have used a small brad nail to try to push out the broken bit just enough to get a pliers on and twist the bit out, but that is a pain and usually isn't necessary for what I am doing.

Thanks for the in put .  it just happens that It was in an eye so couldn't drill another hole.  So I got as close as I could and worked around it until it came out.
Oh well this cat will be a bit gooch-eyed

Well Judy, you seem to have jinxed me as well.      I broke a bit today so I drilled another hole.  Still not sure why the bit broke

The cut-out was so small I couldn't cut past the broken piece of drill bit without making the hole much larger than it was supposed to be.  Fortunately it was a test piece to see if I could make the tiny cut-outs so it wasn't a large problem.

I also learned that the a scroll saw blade can't cut a drill bit, broken or otherwise, and after you try to cut the bit, you can't then cut wood.

I broke my last fine bit I got from Mike, The drill press wasn't even turned on either. Oh, I forgot to mention that I did it while cleaning up the shed,   
  " #$%^$".      Does that mean I am jinxed too, or just plain careless. I would prefer to think it is Judy's fault

Depending on the jet-stream we do get a lot of high flying jets that are crossing the pond. We live in the most easterly point in North America.  I did observe a strange one last week.
