hello forum friends, my question is this, in Chile there are not many options to buy a good scroll saw, just a machine shop offers delta 40-540, and the black & decker bt 1600.
according to their opinon which is better of the two, for now is all that hee found here.

Hello from Iowa USA,
I have a Delta 40-690 and I love it.  If I had to make the choice between the two, I would get the delta saw.

jlatorre was asking about the 40-540, not the 40-690.  They are quite different.

jlatorre, before you buy a saw, try to actually cut wood with it.  All saws vibrate a little, but make sure it doesn't vibrate too much.  Also try changing blades, it is easier if you don't need a wrench.  Most people like blades without the pins at the end, they fit into smaller holes.

There are some comments on the 40-540 on this site - search for 40-540.

Best of luck and let us know what you buy.

I have both a Delta 40-560 and a 40-540 I would say have the Delta, but having just Googled Black and Decker bt1600 and finding a video I think that the 40-540 and bt 1600 are the same machines, just a different colour. I think that they are all one company now. If it's the same machine then which ever is the cheapest would be my choice.
Watch this video and see if it's the same machine

Outside a dog a scrollsaw is a mans best friend, inside a dog it's too dark to cut.
