Toggle Bolt Help
« on: February 22, 2012, 09:42:40 pm »
Hey All, I have a question that maybe someone can answer for me? Sorry its not a scrollsaw question. I am putting up shelves that hang from a main support bar and then the pieces come down that would support the shelves. I am putting about 200 baseballs on them. I think it comes out to about 125 pounds. In the main support I used 7 1/4 inch toggles and I have 5 3/16 cabinet screws in the beams. At home depot they said the cabinet screws were good up to 250 pounds.Do you think I should be all right.Any help will be great.... Dave

A couple of photos might aid in showing what you are working on....

Too much support is better than not enough.  You should be good to go.  The cabinet screws into the studs would have been enough but the toggles will add stability.  (I used to be a hardware specialist at the home depot.)
